A note from Misfits / Why we’re here
A room for
the rest of us.
There’s a lot of talent outside the rooms where people decide who gets a chance.
Maybe you taught yourself to build things after work. Maybe you make videos for a small audience that trusts you. Maybe you have an idea you can see clearly, but you haven’t found the person who can help you make it.
Too often, the first question is who introduced you. Or where you went to school. Your work deserves a closer look than that.
Start with what’s in your hands.
Misfits is starting as a free, virtual-first community for builders and creators. Somewhere to bring an unfinished thing, find a collaborator and ask for help without dressing it up as a pitch.
A builder can help a creator make something useful. A creator can help a builder understand an audience. Both can learn a lot by showing a small first version to the people it’s for.
A question.
A missing piece.
Someone who shows up.
Make room for the whole job.
Making a product is only part of making a business. We want to help with the rest too: learning to build, testing an idea, finding customers, working through business decisions and making a pitch that tells the truth.
We’re at the beginning. There’s no wall of success stories here yet, and no promise that every idea will become a business. There is a clear direction: bring people together, work on things worth trying and share what we learn.
Belonging doesn’t come with an equity clause.
Joining the community is free. You keep your own work. If we choose to build a particular business together, we’ll talk about responsibilities and ownership separately, before anyone commits.
Some people will want a collaborator. Some will want to learn. Some will have exactly the answer someone else needs. Those are all reasons to be here.
Come find your people. And when you do, make room for the next one.
